About Us

Upstagers is a youth theatre group based in Ilkley, West Yorkshire. We currently put on two main shows a year - a pantomime in late January and a musical summer show in mid July. Our performers tend to be aged 6 to 25(ish). We are proud members of NODA and supporters of the Wharfedale Festival of Theatre Awards.

In addition to our shows, we also run classes in Drama, Singing and Performance through our Upstagers Academy, which are all run at our home at the Upstagers Barn in Ilkley (opposite Ilkley station).

We are also a registered charity (no. 1041989) run by a great team of hard-working volunteers. As a charity, we rely on the hard work of the volunteers in our amazing Upstagers family, so don't tend to offer paid work, but we welcome any offers of help. All our income goes into the running of our premises, Academy classes and shows. Discover Ilkley

The picturesque town of Ilkley is situated in the Wharfe Valley, at the southern end of the Yorkshire Dales. The former spa town rose to fame in the nineteenth century when thousands visited for the fresh invigorating air and first-class hotels. The town may no longer be a premier health resort but it is still renowned for its fresh air, moorland and beautiful countryside with a selection of quality accommodation.

The town is famous for its moor and you'll find fantastic countryside and walks for all abilities on your doorstep. The town is also home to one of the largest cycling clubs in the country.

Ilkley is the ideal place to relax and treat yourself. There are excellent restaurants and independent shops selling everything from gifts to vintage clothes and books. Enjoy afternoon tea at the famous Bettys Cafe and Tea Rooms or enjoy one of the many events which take place throughout the year.
